HelloFresh is an international company from Germany, founded in November 2011 by Dominick Richter, Thomas Griesel, and Jessica Nilsson in Berlin. At the start, they personally packed and delivered boxes to their first ten customers.
In 2012, they launched operations in the Netherlands, the UK, the USA, and Australia, and by 2014 were delivering around one million meals per month. After going public with its IPO on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in November 2017, the company maintained its swift expansion. Currently, HelloFresh ranks among the globe's leading meal kit suppliers, with operations spanning numerous countries throughout Europe, North America, and Australia.
Core Advantages
HelloFresh offers a subscription service that delivers boxes with pre-portioned fresh ingredients and step-by-step recipes–making it easy to enjoy a home-cooked dinner without a grocery store run. The menu includes over 60 recipes from a variety of cuisines, with options for families, calorie-conscious eaters, vegetarians, seafood lovers, and those following gluten-free or keto diets.
The service is flexible: you can skip weeks, cancel your subscription, or change your plan at any time–up to 11:59 PM Pacific Time, five days before your scheduled delivery. HelloFresh also prioritizes sustainability: its boxes are recyclable, and the company monitors the carbon footprint of its production.
Moreover, HelloFresh has garnered multiple awards, including Best Customer Service among meal-kit providers from Newsweek and the top spot in USA Today's "Readers' Choice Awards" for six years running.
Promotions on the Official Website
The HelloFresh website offers a variety of promotions for new subscribers, including:
- Free Meals and Bonus Premium Products
New customers are often offered a significant discount on their first order–or the equivalent of "up to 10 free meals"–plus an additional product in each box (such as a protein component) when they have an active subscription. These benefits are applied automatically at checkout and are prominently featured on the official website.
- Student Discounts via UniDAYS
Students who verify their status through UniDAYS regularly receive a discount (for example, 15% off every box for a year). No special codes are required to take advantage of this offer.
- Hero Discounts Program for Certain Professions
Military personnel, veterans, healthcare workers, teachers, and other qualifying "hero" categories automatically receive discounts on their first order, as well as reduced prices on subsequent subscriptions for one year.
Existing customers can refer friends to the service and earn discount credits, while their friends receive a special offer on their first order. This is an ongoing program available to all users.
- Retargeting Offers (For Returning Users)
Customers who have paused their subscriptions often receive incentives such as substantial discounts on their next order, free bonus products, or exclusive promotional offers–HelloFresh encourages them to come back.
How to Apply a HelloFresh Promo Code
On the checkout page or when reactivating a subscription, you’ll see a field labeled Redeem Promo Code or Promo Code. Enter your code there and click Apply to activate the discount.
If you received the code via email, simply follow the link in the message–the system will automatically apply the discount during registration or subscription activation.
